Dee Felice Trio - In Heat

“Just put the record on the box, turn up volume and Dig, Baby Dig.” - James Brown (whoever that is)

I have a challenge for you. When “The Crickets Sing” - the 3rd song on side A - comes on, I challenge you not to jump out of your seat and dance around the room. Good freakin’ luck. You can’t do it. Unless you channel good, old god-like Odysseus, tie yourself - wrists and ankles - to a strong wooden chair. Maybe that would work. You might want to put wax in your ears just to be safe! Or forget it, just get up and dance. This album moves. It’s got real momentum. It could be the incredible musicianship or that they drew some inspiration from the producer - some guy named James Brown.

Duromina - Jimma, Ethiopia

Coffee from the Duromina Washing Station has been populating specialty coffee menus for decades, and for good reason. Duromina presents a classic and reliable representation of coffee from the western part of Ethiopia: clean and citrusy, deeply sweet, lightly sparkling. Duromina is located in the town of Agaro, in the zone of Jimma — areas both widely known for and associated with coffee production in broader Western Ethiopia. This lot is composed of deliveries from approximately 400 smallholder producers in and around Agaro growing on plots as small as .1 hectare. Cherries are depulped, soaked overnight in fiberglass tanks, then dried on raised beds for 8-10 days. Expect an approachable, satisfying citrus-and-black tea easy drinker.
